Join ‘Towards a Mayor4CleanAir’ on Tuesday 20 April
On Tuesday 20 April (7.30pm), there is going to be a clean air hustings ahead of the London mayoral election on 6th May. Hear the candidates’ positions on addressing the problem of toxic air in the capital and ask your questions.
London’s harmful and illegal air pollution is damaging people’s health and cutting lives short. We are all affected and especially the most vulnerable, such as children, old people and those with chronic illnesses such as asthma.
Some Londoners are also disproportionately affected, including people on lower incomes, people from ethnic minorities, and those regularly working outdoors and transport workers.
Given that many people with long-term breathing challenges from Covid-19 are also likely to be more susceptible to air pollution, protecting at-risk groups and improving the nation’s lung health has never been more critical.

Candidate spotlight: Matt Browne, Greenwich West
Matt is an environmental policy specialist who has lived in Greenwich West since 2013 and is standing in the 6th May by-election. He narrowly missed out on winning a first Greenwich council seat for the Green Party with 32% vote share in Peninsula ward in 2018.
He supported the successful resident-led No Toxic Cruise Port campaign which persuaded the council to scrap plans for a polluting cruise terminal at Enderby Wharf in Greenwich in 2018.
Matt is an active campaigner against the Silvertown Tunnel proposed for Greenwich and regularly asks questions at Greenwich Council meetings to hold Council members to account for their support for the tunnel.
