GBGP Newsletter #19: Resuming leafleting for May’s elections

Political campaigning restrictions being lifted in March

Political leafleting will be permitted from 9 March and campaigning in groups of up to six people will be allowed from 29 March.

The government is lifting certain restrictions on political campaigning, as long as it is done in a Covid-safe manner, ahead of the local elections in May.

Official guidance on gov.uk says:

The new rules from 8 March provide for two months of broader campaign activity in the run-up to May’s polls. This proportionate approach will ensure that campaigning can be undertaken during the ‘regulated’ campaign period.

Volunteers needed for leaflet delivery and door-knocking

We will soon be able to deliver leaflets and resume canvassing activities, so GBGP is looking for volunteers to help make the most of these two months before the May elections.

On Saturday 3 April we are holding a door-knocking action day to carry out 60-second surveys of the residents of Kidbrooke with Hornfair ward. It will take place from 10am to midday. If you have some time to spare and would like to take part, sign up here.

And if you’d like to get involved with leafleting efforts over the next couple of months, please email coordinator@greenwich.greenparty.org.uk.
