On Tuesday 6 November Greenwich Council Planning Board considered proposals for a 13 storey tower by the Greenwich Ecology Park – and refused them!
This is great news for our wildlife. The proposed tower would have cast a very significant shadow over the park, damaging the ecosystem permanently by reducing ground temperatures and sunlight. At the Planning Board meeting the wonderful Friends of the Ecology Park comprehensively demonstrated how harmful that impact would be. The Board listened and threw the plans out.
Greenwich & Bexley Greens were there on the night supporting the Friends of the Park, as we have done at every stage of the process. Thank you to everyone who has leafleted in North & East Greenwich, written to the Council and stood alongside environmental campaigners to help save this ecological jewel! We will be keeping an eye out for an appeal by the developers and anything more we can do to help.
